BEI Architects & Engineers, Inc. designed a 135,000 s.f. research and development laboratory for this tier one automotive supplier. The goal of the project was to consolidate several existing operations into one, state-of-the-art, corporate technical center. The project included the renovation of a 90,000 s.f. existing facility and nearly 45,000 s.f. of building expansion.

The completed facility features vehicle component testing and new product validation operations. BEI Architects & Engineers, Inc. designed engine and chassis dynamometer cells, a durability testing center, vehicle emissions testing, and several miscellaneous laboratories.

This facility includes a myriad of unique laboratories with tight temperature and humidity requirements, precise building pressurization and air flow control, and clean rooms to support the sophisticated testing and validation efforts for new product development.

The facility was designed on a "fast track" basis with multiple bid packages to meet a demanding schedule. The project was targeted to go from initial design to beneficial occupancy in a short 14-month timeframe.
